    In what serves as an experiential learning opportunity, students in Patrick Fennell鈥檚 Marketing Research class at 黑料网 have been creating and analyzing datasets to support organizations looking to reach a wider audience. Designed to prepare students for their future careers in the field, the focus on real-world application ties in to the guiding framework of the Department of Marketing and Professional Sales in the Coles College of Business, coined 鈥淎cademia Meets Practice鈥 (AMP). Fennell, an assistant professor of marketing and professional sales, has helped lead the effort over the past two semesters, first with Angels Among Us Pet Rescue, an Alpharetta-based nonprofit, and now, with the Georgia Symphony Orchestra.

    Kennesaw State professor uses experience to inspire art students

    A graphic artist for decades, Joseph Karg has used his talents for everything from drawing superheroes for Marvel Comics to illustrating tour posters for musical acts. In a slightly different direction, he鈥檚 also lent these skills to tell an impactful story of an opioid overdose. Recently, the 黑料网 assistant professor of illustration and sequential art helped an Emory University researcher illustrate the occurrence of opioid-related overdoses in Atlanta鈥檚 Little Five Points neighborhood. He uses the project as a lesson for his students in the Geer College of the Arts to demonstrate the power of graphic illustrations and storytelling.

    Donations to Kennesaw State's Giving Day double to more than $287,000

    In just its second year, 黑料网鈥檚 Giving Day raised $287,770 to support a range of KSU programs, scholarships, and research. A total of 1,551 people and organizations made donations that will assist 150 areas across Kennesaw State. The amount contributed this year more than doubled the $142,838 from last year鈥檚 inaugural Giving Day.

    Track and field standout overcomes injuries to seek a return to the podium

    Two years ago, Kali Terza was at the top of her game. A dominant thrower on the Kennesaw State women鈥檚 track and field team, she was fresh off an ASUN Conference title, had earned a spot on the Under 20 USA Track and Field team, and competed in the 2023 NCAA Women鈥檚 Track and Field Championship meet. For a moment, it felt like she had the world in her hands.

    Kennesaw State architecture, engineering students reimagine Asheville's devastated River Arts District

    Seeking refuge in Savannah, Georgia, Caelyn Summers sat anxiously in her childhood home last September while Hurricane Helene rumbled across the state before turning north toward the Blue Ridge Mountains. One of the deadliest storms in two decades, the Category 4 hurricane killed more than 200 people and left Summers without power for nearly four days. Among the images that stood out the most were those of Asheville, North Carolina, where she spent many family vacations over the years. Perhaps unsurprisingly, she leapt at the opportunity to be one of about two dozen KSU students to make the four-hour drive to Asheville in January to survey Helene damage and meet with community members to discuss recovery efforts.

    The American Psychological Association reports nearly a fifth of all police calls involve individuals experiencing mental health crises. These situations are exacerbated by the lack of behavioral health training, causing first responders to make critical decisions in mere seconds. To address this, 黑料网 computer science student Mason Pederson is contributing to a broader initiative between Cobb County public safety officials and KSU's Cooperative Human-AI Teaming (CHAT) Lab, led by assistant professor Hafiz Khan.

    Andrew Bramlett is well beyond his years, recalling history like a scholar who has long been in the field, longer than his lifetime. Some might say he鈥檚 prodigious. At 19 years old, the first-year history student at 黑料网 sits on the Kennesaw Historic Preservation Commission. A decade ago, though, he was appointed vice president of the Kennesaw Historical Society and served in this role until the group disbanded in 2023.
