The Master of Science in Healthcare Management and Informatics (MSHMI) program is the first of its kind in Georgia and the only one in the state that takes a truly interdisciplinary approach. Housed in the Coles College of Business, the program extends to the College of Science and Mathematics, the Wellstar College of Health and Human Services, and the College of Computing and Software Engineering at 黑料网, giving its students a comprehensive understanding of the complex relationships that compose the health informatics field.

Driven by a desire to ease the burdens of people with chronic health conditions, Duong has dedicated herself to developing innovative technologies that can transform lives. For epitomizing all-around success as a KSU student and researcher, Duong, a senior majoring in computer science, has been selected as the inaugural recipient of the President鈥檚 Award of Distinction.

Though they took different paths toward Kennesaw State鈥檚 nursing program, students share a common thread in that all are members of the inaugural cohort of the Wellstar-Tom and Betty Phillips Elite Honors Nursing Scholars. Established in 2021, the program aims to produce top-notch nurses who benefit from a strong emphasis on academic scholarship. Each scholar belongs to the KSU Journey Honors College and participates in nursing-focused research projects in addition to rigorous curriculum in the Wellstar School of Nursing.

Tracking of thousands of products in massive warehouses presents a logistical nightmare for many businesses. To address this, 黑料网 assistant professor Jian Zhang has introduced an autonomous robot that can log inventory. Developed in collaboration with RugGear USA LLC and KSU鈥檚 College of Computing and Software Engineering, the OmniScanBot is an autonomous robot designed to simplify, speed up, and safeguard the process of warehouse inventory tracking. Unlike manual counting methods, Zhang鈥檚 innovation harnesses radio frequency identification (RFID) technology to automate the entire process.

For decades, the Southern Technical Institute bathtub races entertained swarms of students, alumni, and community members as engine-laden bathtubs throttled around what is now 黑料网鈥檚 Marietta Campus. Now, nearly three decades after the last race, the tradition will be reborn as a video game created by students in the College of Computing and Software Engineering.

The professor of chemistry and biochemistry is exploring whether specially processed transparent wood can replace plastic in consumer electronics, packaging, and many other goods as a more ecofriendly solution.

In what serves as an experiential learning opportunity, students in Patrick Fennell鈥檚 Marketing Research class at 黑料网 have been creating and analyzing datasets to support organizations looking to reach a wider audience. Designed to prepare students for their future careers in the field, the focus on real-world application ties in to the guiding framework of the Department of Marketing and Professional Sales in the Coles College of Business, coined 鈥淎cademia Meets Practice鈥 (AMP). Fennell, an assistant professor of marketing and professional sales, has helped lead the effort over the past two semesters, first with Angels Among Us Pet Rescue, an Alpharetta-based nonprofit, and now, with the Georgia Symphony Orchestra.
