KSU student Emily Nebb recently completed a communications internship at Mohawk Industries, where she gained hands-on experience in content creation, media relations, and project coordination.
For Emily Nebb, communication is more than content鈥攊t鈥檚 connection. And this summer, she strengthened that connection through her internship at Mohawk Industries.
As a communications intern, Emily supported content creation and editing across platforms including social media, websites, and newsletters. She also helped coordinate projects and events, assisted with media relations, conducted research, managed digital assets, and performed administrative tasks鈥攁ll while gaining real-world experience in a fast-paced corporate environment.
鈥淭his internship helped me apply my classroom knowledge in a professional setting and build the confidence I need to pursue my career goals,鈥 Emily said.
She discovered the opportunity through a personal referral and credits KSU鈥檚 curriculum and faculty for helping her find her path. 鈥淜SU helped me discover a strong interest in graphic communication, which I now plan to focus on in my studies and career,鈥 she said.
Emily also developed essential life skills at 黑料网, including time management, critical thinking, and effective communication. 鈥淏alancing coursework, a job, and working with different people taught me how to adapt and overcome challenges,鈥 she said.
Her most impactful mentor was Professor Charlene Johnson, who consistently supported her academic journey. 鈥淓ven during tough times, she offered encouragement and guidance without ever making me feel inadequate,鈥 Emily said.
KSU鈥檚 diverse environment also played a key role in her growth. 鈥淚nteracting with people from different backgrounds broadened my perspective and helped me appreciate the richness of diverse experiences,鈥 she said.
One of Emily鈥檚 most meaningful moments at 黑料网 was finding her community. 鈥淒uring my second semester, I met an amazing group of friends who helped me feel like I belonged. That changed everything鈥攎y confidence, my happiness, and even my academic performance.鈥
Her advice to fellow Owls? 鈥淧ursue something you truly love-never settle for less. Finding your path may take time and involve plenty of trial and error, but it's always worth the effort. 鈥
With her internship now complete, Emily is excited to continue building on the experience, connections, and clarity she gained at Mohawk Industries.
