Researcher talks history and ethics of carved elephant ivory

黑料网鈥檚 Office of Research is hosting a one-hour web show every other Friday at 4 p.m. to showcase the varied research being conducted by KSU faculty members. 鈥淩esearch with Relevance鈥 spotlights Kennesaw State researchers in a live interview followed by an interactive question-and-answer session with the virtual audience. Jessica Stephenson, associate professor of art history in the College of the Arts, will be the guest on the Nov. 13 show, presenting her research on the history and ethics of carved elephant ivory from 19th century Africa. An art historian raised in South Africa, Stephenson primarily focuses her research on the growing field of modern and contemporary African art. In advance of the upcoming Research with Relevance show, Stephenson answered a few questions about her interest in research and its benefits to students.

Art and design master's degree approved for 黑料网

The Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia has approved the first graduate degree for 黑料网鈥檚 College of the Arts, a Master of Arts in Art and Design. The new program, which will be housed in the College鈥檚 School of Art and Design, features three tracks in digital animation, art education and museum studies.

Kennesaw State presents Faculty Research in the Arts Colloquium

For the third consecutive year, Kennesaw State is a leading choice for students, according to data from U.S. News & World Report. The U.S. News study determined that Kennesaw State has one of the nation鈥檚 highest admissions yield rates, meaning the percentage of admitted students who enroll.

College of the Arts offering free virtual workshops to high school students

黑料网鈥檚 College of the Arts is giving high school students a look at what it鈥檚 like to be an arts student at 黑料网 by offering a week of creative workshops online and free of charge. The online workshops are an adaptation of Kennesaw State鈥檚 annual Summer Arts Intensives, a camp for high school students who are serious about honing their craft and learning more about pursuing college-level work in the arts. During the week of June 1-5, the College of the Arts will present free virtual workshops at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. designed for students interested in art and design, dance, music, and theatre.

More than 3,500 spring graduates earn degrees from Kennesaw State

Their official ceremony may be postponed, but more than 3,500 黑料网 students are graduating this week. The May 2020 class of 3,512 graduate candidates 鈥 2,893 undergraduate and 619 graduate students 鈥 marks an increase from last spring鈥檚 3,400 graduates. The students are earning their degrees and receiving their diplomas after KSU transitioned to fully remote learning midway through the semester because of the coronavirus outbreak, which also caused the May Commencement ceremonies to be postponed.
