For patients who do not have an ACCEL clinic nearby (which uses Ultrasound soft tissue scan and who therefore desire diagnosis and treatment by Dr. John D. Reid D.C.
The Independent Health Program has been designed to accommodate the needs of patients who have had pain longer than 6 months, who have an alternative healing problem, or who have been rendered hopeless diagnosis under standard Medical techniques. This program seeks to equip the patient with the Dietary, Spine, Herbal, Exercise, Medical Device, Orthotics and Nutritional assets to return home as independent of day to day in-office care as possible while attaining as full life style as humanly possible, as fast as possible.
Too often long distance travellers seeking alternative healing or relief from pain visit here for ultrasound spine scan enhanced diagnosis and treatment plan only to return home to have their home doctors decide to add, subtract, or alter the patient care regimens. Without the benefit of ultrasound spine scan technology to enhance diagnosis such alterations sometimes prove disastrous.
The Independent Health Program solves the problem by simply
accomplishing the preliminary work needed to design a long term care
program which removes the need for in-office care as much as possible.
It is especially cost effective in long term pain situations where the
condition may have "settled in" and requires intensive daily
gentle therapies over some period of time. The cost of
Independent at home care for best success is often one tenth the usual
costs of follow-up office visits once home again.
For example treatment of myositis or fibromyalgia with your own "licensed doctor ordered" ultrasound unit tuned and set to your personal needs only costs the tiny price of a few minutes of electricity each session at home compared to the cost of an office call with therapy charge. Per session that is a 30 to 1 savings. Now, if your condition demands daily therapy for one year you or your insurer could save as much as $9,000. or more compared to usual office call procedures.
Usually a seven day visit is necessary for diagnostic work-up and trial therapies to receive enough time for confident return home. With "Seeing is Believing Practice Style" guided by ultrasound scan technology both the patient and the doctor can observe deep tissue effects during therapy applications, and thus a rapid development of appropriate treatment plan direction can be determined.
Since Dr. Reid combines healing biologic knowledge with electronic knowledge the clinic lab can prepare custom devices ready for the specific patient's needs as ordered by Dr. Reid so the patient owned devices can be taken home the day of departure.
Rochester Minnesota is well suited o the visiting patient with many hotels and motels which customarily host patients from out of State for the local large Medical facilities. My staff can help you choose a hotel or motel suited to your budget and needs from high security "King's suites" to usual and customary reasonably priced motel rooms.
Dr. Reid's program goals: No doctor can guarantee results, biologic processes are simply too personal and too complex for any such guarantee, however subjective relief of at least a partial nature is the usual immediate goal with at home therapies usually completing the process to bring the patient to as full functional capacity and as pain free life style as possible independent of in-office visits.
Costs: Cost of travel should of course be added to the total
costs: Medical devices and/or custom orthotics are usually
kept under a $1000. cap. Herbal, nutritional, vitamin, and
general supplements can be purchased here or at the patient's
discretion at home. One week of tests and trial therapies are
usually capped at an additional $1,200. Fee for services
schedules are delivered to the patient daily at the end of each
visit so that the patient is always aware of accrued costs.
Since some of the tests and therapies are innovative, experimental, or investigational, insurance can only be accepted on an assignment basis with prior written approval of the caps and investigational nature by the insurer. Telephone discussion with insurance company representatives are welcomed on an appointment basis before the patient's visit so everyone can be assured of a comfort zone. Some insurers welcome the possibility of ending the seemingly endless search for relief engaged by some patients who have suffered long term pain problems.

In 1988 when I saw the first vertebral image with soft tissue inflammation surrounding the bone outline using ultrasound technology I knew my pathway might change dramatically. The thrill of that experience, after decades where-in "experts" had said it was an impossible thing, was so very great it cannot be described. I then had a decision as to whether I would walk away, or share the technology and take what I knew would be slams of jealousy and hatred from all those "experts" who had said it was an impossible thing. I decided to share, received a US Patent in 1992 and trusted in the Lord to give me the strength to endure what would be a very rough time of it for the sake of all the people who needed better diagnosis, living real time diagnosis. It was rougher, meaner, and much more vicious than I expected, but I just kept moving forward from patient success to patient success with those smiles of joy powering the way. One real miracle was the new York Times running an article about the discovery in March of 1992 as the patent was cleared. That article in the Saturday business section really started the commercial propagation rolling. Today orthopedic scanning is slowly becoming more and more a standard of care despite all the official protest and fear, with over 5,000 doctors employing it.

My personal adventure into Alternative healing has led to some very powerful alternative discoveries. Again a decision has to be made. So many people reject what Medicine has to offer, however so much confusion exists on the Internet message boards and Alt. med./Alt. healing reference sites that people are suffering and dying due to following the wrong pathways, or following a partially right pathway. It's like looking into an avalanche and asking whether I want to jump in and take another swim! Living on "borrowed time" myself there is a great temptation to share. A few months ago a piece of tempered glass five feet by three feet and 3/4 inch thick blew up in the lab, hundreds of pieces were sunk deeply in the wall 30 feet away, I was right next to the table it had been laying on with no protective glasses or anything, but not a single particle even touched me. It was a small event compared to April 1997 when I faced the greatest health challenge, however it was a reminder that every day is a miracle of life given through grace.
